BSFG has delivered a new secure cycle hub adjacent to Windsor Leisure Centre, providing cyclists with a protected space to park their bikes while using the Stovell Road wellbeing facilities.

Following consultations with local cycling organisations to ensure the cycle park meets their needs and addresses security concerns, the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead council selected BSFG to deliver the project through a public tender. This initiative was funded by Active Travel England via central government support.

The hub features a security entry system, 36 parking spaces equipped with Easylift Two Tier racksSheffield Stands, and cargo stands. It also includes a Bike Pump and XL Repair Stand for on-the-go bike repairs, and lockers for cyclists to securely store their helmets and belongings. A green roof enhances the hub, providing sustainable drainage, environmental benefits, wildlife habitats, and improved air quality.

Conveniently located on a main cycling route into Windsor Town Centre and near The National Cycle Network Route 4, the hub is easily accessible for cyclists.

Parking spaces can be booked upon arrival or in advance through an app provided by cycle security firm Spokesafe. Access to the secure parking area is controlled by a keypad, available only to registered users with verified IDs. The hub is also equipped with 24/7 CCTV monitoring and customer support from Spokesafe.

Councillor Geoff Hill, cabinet member for highways and traffic, remarked, “If you already cycle or want to give it a go, this new secure cycling park not only gives you peace of mind that your bike will be safe but also has facilities for bike maintenance. Thanks to the valuable input from local cycling groups such as the Windsor Cycle Hub, and Windsor Ascot Maidenhead Active Travel, we’ve been able to create a design that reflects what’s needed.

“This new cycle park also supports two of the five key aims in our Council Plan: creating a cleaner, greener, safer and more prosperous borough as well as empowering our residents to live healthy and independent lives in supportive communities.”
