Project Details

BSFG contributed to the final stages of the Ancoats Green regeneration by supplying bespoke litter bins and bollards, enhancing both the functionality and visual identity of the space. Our products support the park's wider improvements, promoting a cleaner, safer, and more inviting environment.

Project Background

Ancoats Green reopened in summer 2025 as part of a £40 million investment in Manchester's green spaces, enhancing biodiversity, accessibility, and community use. Designed by Planit, the park now features wildflower meadows, more trees, improved paths, and sustainable drainage. The project, jointly funded by local and national bodies, supports wider regeneration efforts including new housing and infrastructure in the area.

BSFG's Contribution

BSFG provided key public realm products tailored to the unique character of Ancoats Green:

Box Steel Litter Bins

Each bin features a RAL 8014 Powder Coating with screen-printed artwork that pays homage to Ancoats' industrial past — once a hub of the flint glassworks industry. This narrative is echoed throughout the park, including a striking bottle-shaped slide in the children's playground.

Quick Bollards

Quick Bollards were installed at key entrances to complement the park's design while providing pedestrian safety, cycle access, and removable access for maintenance vehicles — all finished in a matching RAL 8014.

Outcome

BSFG are proud to have played a part in delivering a thoughtful, community-centric green space for Manchester. The revitalised Ancoats Green is not only a reflection of the area's rich industrial heritage but also a forward-looking, accessible, and biodiverse destination for local residents and visitors alike.

BSFG's street furniture enhances the park's usability and identity with bespoke bins that support cleanliness and sustainability, and our bollards that provide security while maintaining open, inclusive access.

This project demonstrates how thoughtful design can celebrate local history while creating a greener, more welcoming space for everyone.
